It is the most famous of the Gothic cathedrals of the Middle Ages and is widely considered one of the finest buildings of its kind in the world. The building is composed of a combination of the earlier Romanesque architecture and the new Gothic style，with its tall and slender proportions，pointed arches，and ribbed vaults. The interior of the cathedral is decorated with many sculptures，stained glass windows，and other works of art.
